Why Do You Need Motorcycle Track Day Insurance ?

Taking part in track days puts your bike at risk. If something were to happen on a track day, your standard insurance will likely not cover you. Luckily, there are many specialised track day insurance providers that can cover you for accident damage when on a track day.

Track day insurance covers collision damage to your motorbike (whether your fault or not) while on a non-competitive track day event (no timing, pace-making or racing).

Track day insurance excludes third-party liability which means injury to other persons, passengers or damage to other people's property are not covered.

What Are the Types of Bike Track Day Insurance?

There are two levels of cover you can choose from when insuring your track bike:

Total Loss Only

The Total Loss Only option does exactly what it says on the tin - the policy ONLY responds in the event the cost of repairs would exceed the market value of the bike. This would result in the bike being written off and the insured would be paid the market value of the bike less the policy excess. If the cost of repairs does not exceed the market value of the bike, the Total Loss Only option will not cover the costs of repairing your bike.

Ground Up

The Ground Up option covers the cost of repairs of structural components even when the cost of repairs does not exceed the market value of the bike. This option also responds in case of a total loss (the cost of repairs exceeds the market value of the bike).

What Are the Structural Components of a Bike?

Think of what is called a naked bike. Every component is necessary: the mirrors, handlebars, levers, speedo & tach, footrests, exhaust and silencers, forks & suspension, steering yokes, frames & subframes, wheels and all associated components, discs & calipers, master cylinders, tank, tail-lamps etc.

What Are the Benefits of Bike Track Day Insurance?
